Monkey Business. Three orangutans in a café: one asleep in a red armchair in a “Stay wild” shirt, one speaking into a microphone, and one typing on a laptop that reads “Truth loading”, with a smoky factory seen through the window behind them.

This painting reimagines the proverb of the Three Wise Monkeys within the context of modern environmental consciousness. See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil: here, the monkeys become reflections of human behaviour in the digital age.

In a colourful interior, three orangutans occupy different roles. One wears headphones and a “Stay Wild” shirt, detached from the outside world. Another stands behind a counter in activist attire, suggesting an advocacy that sometimes borders on branding or performance. A third leans over a laptop displaying “Truth Loading” — a metaphor for the slow arrival of environmental awareness in a screen-mediated world.

Houseplants, fair-trade coffee and protest posters fill the room, yet beyond the window, factories release thick smoke.

The little black bird looks in with bewilderment from the outside. The tiny mouse represents blind followers.

The question remains: are we confronting the truth, or simply watching it buffer?
